A Note from Pastor

During Holy Week this year, I found myself in the hospital for a serious infection that I am still recovering from.  As I am sure you are all aware, this is not an ideal time for a pastor to be sick.
However, the Lord’s timing is always perfect and while hospitalized, the Lord gave me ample opportunity to ponder the words of the apostle Paul, who wrote, “But [Jesus] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. “ 2 Cor. 12:7-9
This is most certainly true.  When a person’s strength is used up and all the planning and preparations have gone out the window, what remains to boast in, is the grace of God.  It is a blessing that the Lord helps us realize that His grace, mercy, and forgiveness alone are the most needful things, no matter what else happens, so that we can call upon Him in every trouble, pray, praise and give thanks.
What was also particularly comforting during my stay in the hospital and subsequent recovery, are these words, that “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!  Alleluia!” This is the message that brings hope in times of suffering; the grace of God that reveals that because Christ has risen, the victory is His alone and our faith is not in vain.  Therefore, by God’s grace alone, we boast in Christ and Him alone.
