SEASON OF LENT: The word “Lent” comes from the old English word lencten. This season begins with Ash Wednesday, and runs for 40 days, until Easter. The Paraments for Lent are purple, except for the Fourth Sunday, Laetare Sunday, which is rose. The Gloria In Excelsis and the Alleluias before the Gospel are omitted. The Verse, Christ Hath Humbled Himself, is sung each Sunday before the Gospel.
DEVOTIONS FOR LENT: are available from Steadfast Lutherans. There are a few copies on the table at the entrance of the nave, or you can access it online by following the link here.
GET YOUR DANCING SHOES ON! The Ladies’ Guild is hosting a delightful banquet interspersed with learning group dances. No partner or experience is required! Kids are able to enjoy and participate as well. Plan to join us Sunday, March 23rd following Bible study.
THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS: for 2024 will be expiring soon! If you are a Thrivent member, you may be eligible to participate and direct Thrivent Choice Dollars to your favorite ministry. Go to www.thrivent.com/thriventchoice or call 800-847-4836 before March 31 and say, “Thrivent Choice.”
SING BOLDLY CONCERT: Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone is presenting an evening of music on Thursday, March 13th. The concert begins at 7:00pm and includes the school’s choir, handbells, organ, and more! See the poster on the bulletin board for more details.
TRUTH, BEAUTY, GOODNESS: Issues, Etc. is a radio talk show and podcast produced by Lutheran Public Radio in Collinsville, IL and hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. Recent teachings include: The Book of James & Faith Alone; Biblical Leadership; The Filioque & Eastern Orthodoxy; Do Lutherans Believe in Once Baptized Always Saved? and more.
