April 6th Announcements
SERVING FELLOWSHIP NEXT WEEK: C. Dee & M. Selby
UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
April 11 – Food Pantry Sorting
SEASON OF LENT: The word “Lent” comes from the old English word lencten. This season begins with Ash Wednesday, and runs for 40 days, until Easter. The Paraments for Lent are purple, except for the Fourth Sunday, Laetare Sunday, which is rose. The Gloria In Excelsis and the Alleluias before the Gospel are omitted. The Verse, Christ Hath Humbled Himself, is sung each Sunday before the Gospel.
MISSING SOMETHING? After the spring cleaning, if you cannot find an item, please check the lost and found in the entryway. Any extra things laying around have been placed there.
EASTER BREAKFAST sign up is out! Consider how you may help.
FOOD PANTRY SORTING: A group will be gathering Friday, April 11 to sort the donations from the CCA Food Pantry food drive. We will begin around 3:30 and hopefully be done by 6:00. Everyone is welcome to come and go as you are able. Contact Waneta Johnson or Kathy Dee with questions.
The Christian Community in Action (CCA) was formed many years ago by a group of individuals who were interested in helping community members during challenging times. This group found representatives in the local area churches that helped tie the group together with community individuals and organizations interested in a common goal. Holy Cross Lutheran Church sorts, stores, and stocks the shelves for the food pantry. Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday the food pantry is open for individuals and families in the area.
ORGANIST SEARCH: Messiah Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Johnston, IA is looking for a new organist. The position would begin late May/early June and can be part or full time. Main duty would be to play for the Sunday 9:30am worship services, using liturgy and hymns from the LSB. See the flyer on the bulletin board for more information.
FOOD ALLERGIES: If you have food allergies, an intolerance, or a restriction/ sensitivity, please stop in the office and mark it on the Food Allergen chart. You will not be asked to provide your name. This is to help us label foods during congregational meals and events. Thank you.
