July 7th Announcements
NO WEDNESDAY ACTIVITIES: Pastor will be teaching at the Okoboji Family Retreat this week, so there will be NO Wednesday Bible Study, NO Vespers, and NO Table Talk. There will also be no scheduled activities, next Wednesday, July 17th because Pastor is on vacation.
DIRECTORY UPDATES: Grab an updated half-sheet to insert into your church directory! We have many new additions (Welcome!) and a couple updates to directory information.
THANK YOU: Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Funnel Cake Stand! It was a huge success with a record high income of over $3000. We had over 2 dozen volunteers who helped prepare food, set up the tent, haul the trailer, stock supplies, cook food, prepare batter, serve food and beverages, take orders, clean up and more! What a blessing to have so many volunteers. Thank you for sharing your time and talents. -Funnel Cake Team
LOST AND FOUND: Help! Our lost and found basket was quite full. Please take a look at the items laid out on the table in the narthex. Unclaimed items will be donated/disposed of after July 14th.
COOKOUT: The next church cookout is July 14th at 5:30pm at the shelter house. Bring meat for your family to grill and a side to share. See you there!
CAMP OKOBOJI FLOOD RECOVERY: Camp Okoboji was also subject to flooding. Some buildings on camp were affected, particularly the newest cabin, Ezra, as well as Solomon and Genesis where some of the staff live, and most significantly Joppa Hall. Additionally, the docks received major damage. Unfortunately, it’s not prudent for Camp Okoboji to use our insurance to make repairs because of a large deductible and limited coverage. We’ve decided on repairing without, but we can only do so with your help. Donate at CampOkoboji.org under “Give to Camp.”
IDW FLOOD RELIEF: Remember to keep Iowa communities in your prayers as they recover from the devastating floods. There will be organized efforts to provide physical assistance through Iowa District West LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team). If you are trained or would like to be trained by LERT please go to www.lcms-lert.org. You can provide financial support sending a check payable to Iowa District West with “Disaster Relief” on the memo line or online at IowaDistrictWest.org and click on “Donate” to make a secure online donation under the “Disaster Relief” option.
DAY OF HOPE: Lutheran Family Service is hosting a “Day of Hope” at Immanuel Lutheran in Greenfield, focused on how to navigate fears and grief after the events of the tornado. It is open to anyone. See the poster on the announcement board for more information.
WEEDING: Our church property could always use some help with weeding. We are specifically looking to take care of areas like the garden, around trees, and around shrubbery. See the sign-up sheet in the narthex or speak with Christina Williamson.
DONATIONS NEEDED: The Lutheran Institute for Regenerative Agriculture is looking for gently used items for the girls’ housing/dorm. There is a list in the Narthex. If you have any of the items and would like to donate them, please initial the box next to the item. We will be collecting them and delivering donations this fall. We are also organizing a service project for this fall. Watch for more details. See Kathryn Feldt for details or questions.
