A Note from Pastor

Throughout the month of December we celebrate the season of Advent, remembering how the prophet Isaiah declared the miraculous birth of Jesus with these words, “Behold the virgin will conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.” He also described the how the Messiah would, “bring good news to the poor…bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” He also wrote how the people “who walked in darkness have seen a great light,” foretelling that, “Jesus is the light of the world which no darkness can overcome.”  And that, “for unto a us a child is born, to us a son is given and… his name will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah also wrote of how the Messiah would suffer and die for the sins of the whole world when he explained, “He was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruise for our iniquities; and upon him is the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, each to his own way and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” The words of the prophet Isaiah describe the long promised Messiah, and is the message of all the prophets and apostles, that points us to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the Lord grant you a blessed Advent season and a merry Christmas.
