A Note from Pastor (August 2024)
“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 1:5-8)
This month marks twenty years since God called me to serve His congregation here at Holy Cross. Over the years, I have wholeheartedly shared St. Paul’s gratitude to God for the gifts He has given His church here and I have been incredibly blessed to experience firsthand the fulfilling of Paul’s apostolic greeting among us.
As I have served here, I have seen God’s grace continue to grow as members here have treasured and passed on the faith once handed down to the prophets and the apostles. The reality that we are not lacking in any of God’s gifts given in the preaching of Christ and Him crucified and in the administering of the Sacraments has strengthened our congregation and our families to face the challenges of an ever-changing world.
I pray that we will remain faithful to God’s Word and true to the teachings of the Lutheran Confession until that day when the Lord returns in glory and all of His promises are fulfilled. Until then, I pray our families will continue to rejoice in the gift of God’s grace given in the forgiveness of sins and salvation that can only come from the preaching of Christ and Him crucified and through the means of grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
