August 18th Announcements

SPECIAL VOTER'S MEETING: Special Voter’s Meeting next Sunday, August 25th. Topics covered will be Johnson family insurance for 2025 and Member Transfers In / Out.

VOTER’S MEETING: Our regular, semi-annual voter’s meeting will be September 22nd, during the Bible study hour.

COOKOUT TONIGHT: Church cookout tonight at 5:30pm. Bring meat for your family to grill and a side to share. Come enjoy fellowship time with Lynn Girton to help joyfully send her on her way to New York.

OKTOBERFEST: Previously marked as September 15th on the calendar, the Oktoberfest cookout will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 5-8pm. Brats will be provided. Expect some Reformation-themed fun!

PHOTO DIRECTORY: The Board of Stewardship is collecting family pictures of Holy Cross members to create an updated photo directory. Please help us by:
  • Submitting a digital image of your family to officesecretary@holycrosscarlisle.org that is less than 6 months old
  • OR have a member of stewardship board take a photo of your family after any church service. Beginning August 11th, we will be taking pictures after church services in the Narthex near the Luther’s seal wood carving.
These photos are to help members put names and faces together. They can be casual snapshots. They do not need to be professional. They should be “head shots” that focus on your face (shoulders up). The photo deadline will be September 29th. Contact Rita Stofer, Kathryn Feldt or Jarnel Lamphier for Questions.

COLLECTING PHOTOS: The Ladies’ Guild is collecting photos from Pastor Johnson’s 20 years at Holy Cross. If you have photos you would like to share (e.g. weddings, baptisms, special events), you can email a digital copy to Katie Eubanks. If you have printed copies, you can leave them in the Office Secretary mailbox in an envelope with your name on it. Allison will scan them and get them back to you.

DONATIONS NEEDED: The Lutheran Institute for Regenerative Agriculture is looking for gently used items for the girls’ housing/dorm. There is a list in the Narthex. If you have any of the items and would like to donate them, please initial the box next to the item. We will be collecting them and delivering donations this fall.  We are also organizing a service project for this fall. Watch for more details.  See Kathryn Feldt for details or questions.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The Altar Guild could use more ladies to assist on a monthly basis. If you are interested in learning more, speak to Christina Williamson.

OPENING FOR CHURCH OFFICE ASSISTANT: Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Polk City is taking applications for a part-time Church Office Assistant. Resumes can be emailed to secretary@polkcity.church or dropped off at the church office. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a member of an area Lutheran Church. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday. Interviews will be set up soon.
