UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
Dec 8th – Council Meeting following Children’s Christmas Program

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! WE NEED USHERS to help the service run smoothly. If you are an adult male of the congregation, please consider serving, even just a couple Sundays a year. We NEED A DRIVER for Tom & Lin on the first week of the month. We also are LOOKING FOR A GREETER (or family of greeters) for the 3rd or 5th Sundays of the month. If you can fill any of these roles, please let the secretary, Allison Doying, know as soon as possible so that the 2025 Volunteer schedule can be published. Thank you!
CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Join us for Christmas caroling on Sunday, December 22, following Adult Bible Study. A light lunch will be served before we head out to carol to several of our members. Everyone is welcome! Look for the sign-up sheet in the narthex.
HANDEL’S MESSIAH: The Des Moines Community Orchestra will be putting on a free concert of Handel’s Messiah and the audience gets to sing along! Sunday, Dec 8th at 2:00pm at Grace United Methodist Church. (You may even see a couple of our members in the orchestra.)
ADVENT MUSIC: There will be an Advent/Christmas program at Trinity Lutheran Church, State Center, IA on December 8th at 2:00pm featuring area musicians. Come and enjoy an afternoon filled with praises to our King!
ADVENT DEVOTION: from Steadfast Lutherans is now available! You may pick up a print copy near the bulletins, or follow the link here!
IOWA LUTHERAN SCHOOL TUITION ORGANIZATION: Time is short – December 31 is almost here! We are currently at only 30% of our goal. The Iowa Lutheran Student Tuition Organization (ILSTO) will gladly accept your gift that will provide financial assistance to our students. Your donation needs to be postmarked no later than December 31. Tax credits are available but the closer you donate to the deadline please call to make sure credits are still available. The credits can go fast! You will receive a 75% tax credit on your Iowa taxes and 25% charitable contribution on your federal form. RMD/QCD are also eligible for Iowa tax credits. What a deal! Grain and appreciated stock are also eligible for donations.

Issues, Etc., a radio talk show and podcast produced by Lutheran Public Radio in Collinsville, IL, is doing a World Religions 101 series with Dr. Adam Francisco of Concordia University Chicago. You can listen to this multi-part series at issuesetc.org/worldreligions.
